SWBs Alternative Delivery System (ADS)
Volunteering to Help Students Online
In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have created an Alternative Delivery System (ADS) to allow SWB to continue to support our classroom teachers and students via an online platform. During the summer of 2020, a team of five SWB volunteers met every week to quickly and efficiently develop the ADS service and training program. The dedicated volunteers in reference are Linda LoBue, Bonnie Curtis, Debbie VanLiew, Heidi Dozier, and Alexandra Archer. For more information about this development process and a quick overview of how the program works please watch the ADS Webinar Video below.
In order to participate in the ADS program, our veteran volunteers have been trained via our online ADS training program. New volunteers interested in participating in the ADS must also complete the general SWB training as well learn our history and methodologies. To find more information about how to get started as a volunteer please visit our Getting Started page. This year, we have trained and placed 22 volunteers in our ADS program and are helping to support more than 16 classrooms. To see a list of the schools who are currently receiving ADS services please visit our Participating Schools page.
This program not only allows SWB to continue to support our local educators during this time of crisis, but it will open doors to a whole new set of volunteers who may not otherwise have been able to physically volunteer inside of a classroom. Our ADS program is not just a temporary fix for this time of need, it is an essential service that we plan to continue to provide as an option for our volunteers, teachers, and students.
