Consultant: Mary Taverna

Mary Taverna lives in Lincoln, California. She is enjoying retirement as a resident of Sun City Lincoln Hills (SCLH). Prior to SCLH she called Marin and Sonoma counties her home. Mary speaks proudly of her roots in West Marin and the part her grandparents played in creating a ranching community well known for its fertile lands, rolling hills and coastal climate. 

In 1959, Mary left the rural community of Olema to pursue a career in the health care field. A nurse by training, she finished her 33 year career as a health care administrator. As President and CEO of Hospice of Marin (HOM), now Hospice by the Bay (HBTB), she had the privilege and opportunity to serve as one of the program founders and developers. Mary is a nationally recognized leader in the development and administration of hospice care programs nationwide.

As the CEO and President of HOM, she helped to develop hospice standards, obtain Medicare reimbursement for hospice services (none existed) and to perform as a national leader. Included in her career path was service for over 20 years as a director and officer on many of the National Hospice Organization Boards. Mary is the recipient of local, state and national awards for leadership and pioneer efforts. 

Mary enjoys the training and mentoring of others interested in becoming effective and dynamic leaders. She hopes to be of help so others can aim high in hope and work and achieve their leadership dreams.
